<p><strong>Tarn Sike Woodland Retreat is a new luxury glamping hideaway opening in autumn 2026 in private woodland near Raisbeck, on the Cumbrian side of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.</strong> The small-scale retreat is being created at Holme Bottom, close to Sunbiggin Tarn and around three miles from <a href="/destinations/orton">Orton</a>.</p>
<p>There will be just four individually named woodland pods, making this a deliberately compact retreat rather than a large holiday park. The pods sit beside Tarn Sike stream and the property's private lake, with views towards the Howgills and straightforward access from M6 Junction 38.</p>
<h2>When does Tarn Sike Woodland Retreat open?</h2>
<p>The operator currently says <strong>autumn 2026</strong>. Bookings are not yet open and no exact first-stay date has been published. Visitors can register their interest through the official Tarn Sike website to hear when booking dates are released.</p>

<h2>What are the Tarn Sike pods like?</h2>
<p>All four pods are approximately 28m² and sleep up to four people. Each has a king-size bed plus sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchen with induction hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, Nespresso machine and air fryer, plus a modern ensuite shower room.</p>
<p>Bedding, towels and bath robes are included. Each pod also has its own outdoor space with seating, BBQ and firepit, as well as free Wi-Fi.</p>
<h2>Private outdoor baths</h2>
<p>One of Tarn Sike's most distinctive features is the private outdoor bath supplied with every pod. These are stone-resin baths rather than hot tubs. They are large enough for two people, filled by guests when required and positioned in the pod's private outdoor area beneath the woodland canopy.</p>
<h2>Can you swim at Tarn Sike?</h2>
<p>Yes. Guests will be able to wild swim in the retreat's private lake. The operator says the lake is around six feet deep at its deepest point and that the water is regularly tested against outdoor-bathing standards.</p>
<p>The lake and river are unfenced, so families need to supervise children closely around the water.</p>
<h2>Dog-friendly pods</h2>
<p>Two of the four pods are planned as dog friendly: <strong>Sunbiggin</strong> and <strong>Gamelands</strong>. The operator asks for dogs to be kept on leads around the site. Guests travelling with a dog should select the appropriate pod and check the latest booking conditions before confirming a stay.</p>
<h2>Parking and EV charging</h2>
<p>Dedicated guest parking is provided around a two-minute walk from the pods, with luggage trolleys available. The car park has four EV charging points capable of providing up to 22kW depending on how many vehicles are charging at the same time. The operator says an additional EV-charging fee will apply.</p>
<p>There is also a communal washing machine and heated drying room, useful for walkers and cyclists returning with wet kit.</p>

<p>The setting makes Tarn Sike particularly well placed for exploring the Westmorland Dales, Howgills, Great Asby Scar, Gamelands Stone Circle and Sunbiggin Tarn, while still being practical for a break combining the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District.</p>
