Old Fire Station
A brilliant choice for a night out in Carlisle, especially for live music and comedy. Check the event listing carefully, as seating, age limits and door times vary by show.
An official guided tour showing the venue and its access arrangements.
Old Fire Station is one of Carlisle's liveliest independent entertainment venues, hosting touring bands, tribute acts, comedy, theatre, talks and special events inside a distinctive converted fire station.
The programme changes throughout the year, so every visit feels different, from energetic standing gigs to seated comedy shows and more intimate performances. A well-stocked bar connects directly to the main event space, making it an easy choice for a complete night out in the city centre.
The main event space and bar are on the ground floor, with step-free access from the street and an accessible toilet. Individual event listings state whether a performance is seated or standing, alongside door times, age restrictions and ticket information. Visitors with accessibility requirements are advised to arrive at least 15 minutes before the advertised door time so staff can help them find a suitable position.
The venue is around a 10-minute walk from Carlisle railway station and an 8-minute walk from the bus station. A large public car park is located opposite. Tickets are normally available through the venue website, with sales on the door only when an event has not sold out.
Opening and door times vary by performance. Check the individual event listing before travelling.
A small venue but the best gigging experience!
The venue may be small, but it sure packs a punch! I have seen some amazing acts here over the last few years and it beats the biggest venues in the UK hands down.
Since the Sands Centre shut it's doors I have been coming to the Old Firestation nearly every month. There is always something great on. The best entertainment venue in Cumbria in my eyes! 🎸
