Basecamp Lakeside Cabins
A high-potential new accommodation listing with strong visual appeal and useful affiliate value. The outdoor bath, lake view and sauna make it especially marketable for couples, while the sofa bed opens selected stays to small families. Guests must be comfortable with a rural, pet-free working-farm setting.
Basecamp Lakeside Cabins are seven new eco-led stays at Basecamp North Lakes, on a working farm and wetland reserve beside the A66 between Penrith and Keswick. Bookings opened in July 2026, creating a distinctive self-catering option with views across a private lake towards Mell Fell and Blencathra.<br>

Each cabin measures approximately 8.5 metres by 4 metres and is designed for two adults or a small family. Inside is a double bed, a double sofa bed, living space, wood-burning stove, fully equipped compact kitchen with hob and oven, and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Unlimited Wi-Fi and locally produced eco toiletries are included.<br>

The most eye-catching feature is the freestanding outdoor bath positioned to face the lake. Guests also have access to a shared wood-fired lakeside sauna, with one session currently included with a cabin stay. The sauna accommodates up to four people per session and should be booked according to the instructions supplied with the reservation.<br>

The wider Basecamp site includes a farm shop and café, community garden, wetland trail, wildlife habitats, a communal shelter and fire-pit area. The Alpacaly Ever After social-enterprise activities operate on the site and can be booked separately. The farm shop and café are currently open from 9am until 5pm daily.<br>

This is an environmentally focused rural stay rather than a conventional hotel. Mobile reception can vary, and the setting is particularly suited to quiet evenings, wildlife watching and dark skies. Swimming or water access should never be assumed simply because the cabins overlook a private lake.<br>

Dogs and other pets are not permitted because Basecamp is a working farm and home to rescued camelids and other livestock. Families should supervise children carefully around the farm, water, paths, stove, outdoor bath and communal areas.<br>

Parking is available on site close to the cabins. The location is convenient for Penrith, Keswick, Ullswater, Blencathra and northern Lake District walks, but most guests will find a car useful. Check-in, check-out, minimum-stay and cancellation terms are confirmed during the official booking process.
